Department Summary:

- Located in the Evans County Courthouse Annex Building behind main courthouse.
Hours of operation:  8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.-Monday thru Friday.

- The Magistrate Court is a limited jurisdiction court that handles civil and criminal cases. The jurisdictional limit for civil cases is $15,000.00 or less.  The court handles filings for civil claims, dispossessory proceedings, garnishments, writs of possession, foreclosures, abandoned motor vehicles cases, county ordinance violations and applications for arrest warrants.  The Magistrate Court also issues warrants for misdemeanor and felony arrest warrants.

- The Court conducts bond hearings, first appearance hearings, applications for arrest warrants and also conducts other hearings for any contested proceeding which falls within the jurisdiction of the Court.
